Mary Taylor Bryan (1907-1978) was a sculptor before she took up painting in the 1930’s, when she and her husband Alden Bryan moved to Gloucester, MA. They operated the Bryan Gallery on Rocky Neck for 30 years, and studied with Emile Gruppé. The Bryans also lived in Jeffersonville, Vermont.
Mary Bryan won prizes at the American Watercolor Society, the National Association of Women Artist, the Silvermine Guild, the Allied Artists of America and the North Shore Arts Association.. She was a member of the Guild of Boston Artists and the Copley Society, where she exhibited with her husband.
